J.P. Martin is a 2019 C/RHP/UT with a 6-0 180 lb. frame from Cartersville, GA who attends Cartersville HS. Medium athletic build, has some present strength with room for more. Very versatile defensive player, looked solid all over the field with athleticism, good arm strength and very accurate throws, gets low and is quick in his actions behind the plate, can literally play nine positions and look like he belongs there. Right handed hitter, tall stance with a simple direct shift into contact, wrapped barrel start, has quick strong hands and creates good barrel whip, ball comes off the barrel hard and showed some juice. Also pitched, short compact catcher’s arm action, upper body delivery with simple directional mechanics. Mid-80’s fastball, topped out at 89 mph, big downer curveball at 70 mph. Good student.
