16U Astros Win Sandlott Baseball World Championship
The East Cobb 16U Astros went undefeated (7-0) to win the Sandlott Baseball World Championship in Nashville, TN. After falling behind 2-0 in the Championship game, pitcher Garrett Wade took a hard line drive to the face, sending him to the hospital.
After the accident, the team rallied together and Collin Casey came to the mound to record the final 9 outs, 6 via the strike out. The team scored 2 runs in the 5th to tie it and 3 runs in the bottom of the 6th to take the lead and hold on for the championship. The Astros proudly took home the first Sandlott World Championship Gold Record!
